Intercompany elimination worksheet. Entries in seconds.

List the loans, fees, sales, and dividends between your entities. Get the elimination entry for each, a check that both sides agree, and what drops out of the consolidated statements.

Short answer

An intercompany elimination entry removes a transaction between two entities in the same group from the consolidated financial statements. A loan from the parent to a subsidiary, for example, is eliminated by debiting the intercompany payable and crediting the intercompany receivable, so the group does not report money it owes itself. The entry is made only at the consolidated level, and each entity's own books stay as recorded.

These entries belong in the consolidation workpapers only. Each entity keeps its own books exactly as recorded. Unrealized profit in inventory, investment-in-subsidiary eliminations, and ownership-percentage (non-controlling interest) effects are out of scope for this worksheet.
